Brian McStay

Brian is based at the Centre for Chromosome Biology at the National University of Ireland Galway. After a PhD in Edinburgh and post-doc in Seattle, Brian started his own research group in Dundee, before moving back to Ireland in 2008. Throughout his career, Brian’s research has focussed on ribosomal genes. His research has ranged from the biochemistry of ribosomal gene transcription in Xenopus and humans through to his current interest in the chromosome biology of human nucleolar organiser regions and the cell biology of nucleolar formation and organisation in human cells. Brian is an EMBO member and his research is primarily funded by the Wellcome Trust.
