Job requirements and responsibilities:
- We seek a highly motivated and skilled candidate with PhD to work on a new DFG-funded project within an interdisciplinary biophysics consortium (SFB1027: https://www.sfb1027.uni-saarland.de/). The project will combine cell biology and mechanics, bio-engineering, bioinformatic analyses, and live cell imaging, and includes strong collaboration with research groups at the Leibniz Institute for New Materials (INM), Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology.
- Proficiency in cell culture methods, microscopy, biochemistry, and statistical data analysis is expected.
- The applicants must have a strong interest in cell biology of the skin and mechanistic approaches. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in primary cell isolation and culture.
- Ability for problem solving, critical thinking, scientific writing and presentation skills are crucial.
- Good command of oral and written English as well as German and ability to work in a team are essential.
Your academic qualifications:
- Doctoral degree / PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, biology, bioengineering or related subjects
The successful candidate will also be expected to:
- engage in active scientific discussions in the team and develop independence
- contribute to supervision of undergraduate and graduate students joining the lab
