Postdoctoral position in Adipose Tissue Plasticity
Posted by lucie peduto, on 22 December 2022
Location: Paris (France)
Closing Date: 15 February 2023
Our laboratory at Institut Pasteur (Paris) has one position available for postdoctoral fellow in the area of inflammation and metabolic disease research. We are interested in mechanisms of tissue homeostasis and adaptation to environmental inputs, with an emphasis on tissue long lived cells such as stromal cells. Using novel genetic and pharmacological tools, we investigate the stromal signaling and crosstalk with immune cells, stem cells and other resident cells in different physiological and pathological conditions with a focus on inflammatory and regenerative disorders. We mostly perform in vivo studies, combining lineage tracing and depletion models, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy and unbiased approaches such as single cells transcriptomics and epigenetics to characterize molecular and cellular mechanisms. Building on similar approaches, the objective of this project is to investigate stromal regulation of adipose tissue plasticity and response to immune or environmental challenges (such as diet, stress etc), with a focus on cell fate determination and the microbiota-immune axis.
Required qualifications: Successful applicants have a recent PhD or MD/PhD degree in immunology or related biomedical disciplines, with a track record of publications and lab experience in one or more areas that include: adipose tissue biology, immunology, tissue remodeling/matrix biology, mesenchymal stem cells, metabolism. Highly motivated candidates interested in areas of research at the intersection of stromal/stem cell biology and immunology are strongly encouraged to apply.Specific requirements:
- Required: Previous experience with in vivo rodent models and flow cytometry, good knowledge of adipose tissue biology
- Desirable: Experience with transcriptomics (RNAseq), mouse genetics or immunofluorescence /confocal imaging
- Would be a plus: Experience or interest in big data analysis and scripting languages (R, Python)
The position is available starting from January 2023 for two years, renewable. Benefits include comprehensive family healthcare coverage and 6 weeks paid annual leave. Salary according to French standards and depending on experience.
Research will be conducted at Institut Pasteur in the center of Paris, which contains state of-the-art facilities and a highly collaborative research environment with 13 Departments across Biology/Physics/Biomedical fields. Our lab is co-affiliated with the Departments of “Immunology” and “Developmental and Stem Cell Biology”, facilitating interactions and collaborations in these different research areas.
