This conference aims to bring experts together to discuss the molecular basis of metabolic disorders linked to overnutrition, with a particular focus on understanding human insulin resistance.Topics covered will include:

The potential roles of, altered lipid metabolism (‘lipotoxicity’), hyperinsulinaemia, inflammation, adipokines and altered redox state in ‘causing’ insulin resistance.
Insights from human genetic studies on the determinants of fat mass, distribution and metabolic disease
