Research Associate – Postbac Opportunity
Posted by David Fay, on 21 April 2026
Job type:
Location: Laramie, Wyoming
Closing Date: 31 July 2026
I have funding for one or two Research Associates to join us in Laramie WY in the Wyoming Worm Lab. We work together to study basic mechanisms of cell biology, development, and whatever else comes up that seems interesting.
Our approaches are broad, encompassing molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and genomics, quantitative microscopy, proteomics and protein modeling, and transcriptomics. We are focused on doing top-notch science, publishing our data, and being good citizens within the scientific community. I (David Fay) also do considerable outreach and student support through an NIH program project grant (The Wyoming INBRE). I believe that everyone deserves opportunities to prove themselves and that you never know where the talent is going to come from.
Our studies typically require the ability to master a breadth of concepts and methods, so successful lab members need to have the capacity and interest in learning new areas of biology and techniques. Other key factors for success in the lab are curiosity, drive, attentiveness, maturity, and independence. I’d be looking for a 2-year commitment, because it takes time for individuals to become well trained and to generate a paper. If this seems like it might be a good fit, and the general science interests you, then this could be a great opportunity to hone your experimental skills, learn how to move projects forward, make new scientific insights, and publish papers.
For those who are outdoorsy and appreciate living in a safe and friendly college-town environment, Laramie fits that bill.
Note that this position requires US citizenship or appropriate residency/work status.
The best way to learn about the lab is to read our papers:
