The Berro lab is recruiting two experimentalists with interest, and ideally experience, 1) in stem cells, organoids and/or immune cells, and/or 2) in protein and/or cell engineering, to work on mechanobiology projects and develop the next generation of force sensors and force transducers. Overview of the position

The Berro lab has a long interest in mechanobiology and in understanding how forces are produced and sensed at the molecular scale in cells. We recently developed a new class of molecular force sensors that are genetically encoded and can detect forces on virtually any protein of interest. The lab is currently using this technology to engineer new force transducing platforms, which we will use for discovery research in mechanobiology and to develop the next generation of cell therapies. These projects are funded by NCI, NIBIB and CZ Biohub.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a PhD in Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Developmental Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Functional Genomics, or any adjacent field, with a strong interest in mechanobiology and/or tool and method development.

Recognized experience a) working with mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs), iPSCs, organoids or immune cells or b) in protein and cell engineering is strongly preferred. Candidates with experience in adjacent fields and techniques will also be considered.

The Berro lab is part of the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry (MB&B) at Yale University and located within the Nanobiology Institute on Yale West Campus. It is also affiliated with the Department of Cell Biology at Yale School of Medicine, the Yale Cancer Center, the Yale Stem Cell Center, and the QBio Institute.
