The Centre for Trophoblast Research (CTR) was founded in 2007 as a Centre of excellence to promote scientific study of the placenta, early development and maternal-fetal interactions during pregnancy. It brings together over 30 Principal Investigators, many of whom are recognized international experts in their fields. The CTR is seeking to recruit a Licencing and Training Coordinator who will be responsible for supporting the interphase of clinical and basic sciences research. Reporting to the Director, the Licencing and Training Coordinator will help expand the network of clinical collaborators and support the development of innovative research within the CTR, ensuring Cambridge remains a world leader in research in placental biology and reproduction.

The Licencing and Training Coordinator will be responsible for managing CTR licencing activities including liaising with collaborating clinics, maintaining updated research licences and Research Ethics Committee approved research projects, submissions of licence renewals, amendments, and annual reports. They will oversee the CTR Human Uterus in Pregnancy and Disease Biobank and central storage of human embryos consented and donated to the CTR for research including oversight of records and databases to ensure regulatory compliance.

A major mission of the CTR is training and the Licencing and Training Coordinator will be responsible for providing local expertise and enhancing the scope of training, especially in novel cutting-edge technologies. They will promote training opportunities for staff and early career researchers thereby enhancing the quality of experience for CTR-supported Next Generation Research Fellows, postgraduate students, CTR-affiliated labs and staff. The Licencing and Training Coordinator will support the CTR to provide an environment that enables the delivery of research at the highest level and to work in innovative ways to achieve research and training excellence.

The Licencing and Training Coordinator will coordinate the provision of training and manage the CTR Placental Biology Course including applications for funding to support participation from underrepresented groups and organising the course content and lecturers to ensure high quality provision of teaching and training. Their role will involve providing lectures and practicals at the Placental Biology Course, the supervision of students and acting as the point of contact to train and support visiting scientists. Should they wish, the Licencing and Training Coordinator will also be supported and mentored to apply for external research funding to develop ambitious research projects closely aligned with the CTR Grand Challenges, in consultation with the Director and Board of Managers. The Licencing and Training Coordinator will line manage the CTR Technician to ensure smooth running of CTR research activities and to provide assistance with research licencing and coordination of training. The Licencing and Training Coordinator will also work collaborative with and support the Executive Manager to develop funding applications and shared equipment bids.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant subject and have postdoctoral or equivalent experience leading research projects. Please refer to the further particulars document for a full list of essential skills and qualifications.

Appointments will be made on a fixed-term, full-time, basis for a period of 3 years, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding.  The salary range is £31,406£40,927.
