Laboratory Technician/Research Assistant in stem cell research at Centro Andaluz de Biología del Desarrollo (Seville, Spain)

Posted by , on 28 November 2023

Location: Centro Andaluz de Biologia del Desarrollo, Seville, Spain

Closing Date: 31 December 2023

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician/Research Assistant to join our small interdisciplinary team at the Centro Andaluz de Biología del Desarrollo (CABD) in Seville, investigating early human embryonic development. Our team uses in vitro experiments with stem cells and novel mathematical and computational methods to uncover the mechanisms by which cells communicate and interpret dynamic signaling to transition into different cell types and create spatial patterns. Our research has a focus on the role of embryonic-extraembryonic interactions. Kindness, curiosity, and teamwork are core values in our lab.

Your primary responsibilities will be to:

1.- Perform routine cell culture tasks, including maintaining and differentiating stem cell lines.

2.- Ensure strict adherence to sterile techniques and lab safety protocols.

3.- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records.

4.- Assist in the design and execution of experimental protocols.

Necessary qualifications and skills:

1.- Vocational/Technical Degree, Bachelor’s or M.Sc. Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field.

2.- Some experience in molecular biology techniques, preferably cell culture.

3.- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

4.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ideally, you will already have some cell culture experience and an interest in quantitative developmental biology. However, we will support you in developing your skills and knowledge throughout the project. For example, depending on your skills and interests, you may be welcome to get involved with analyzing experimental data.

We will provide you with a supportive, international, and stimulating research environment, a significant investment in interdisciplinary skills training and professional development, and a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The expected starting date is January/February 2024.
