Open rank faculty position in lung developmental, stem cell, and regenerative biology
Posted by Stephen Santoro, on 13 November 2023
Job type: Faculty (open rank)
Location: University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, CO
Closing Date: 1 November 2024
The Sections of Developmental Biology and Pulmonary Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus invite applications for a tenure track faculty position (Assistant/Associate/Full) in the areas of developmental, stem cell, and regenerative biology of the lung.
Areas of particular research interest include but are not limited to 1) molecular, genetic, and epigenetic mechanisms of lung development and regeneration, 2) gene regulatory networks and systems biology, 3) animal, iPSC and organoid models of lung development, lung and cardiopulmonary developmental disorders and syndromes, and lung regeneration, and 4) tissue reprogramming and remodeling.
We seek a new colleague with a visionary research program that both synergizes with existing research in our Sections and brings new ideas and research directions. Applying diverse model systems, current research emphases in the Section of Developmental Biology include developmental cell fate specification, tissue and organ morphogenesis, cardiovascular lineage formation, neuro-glial biology, and organoid models of development and disease. The Section of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine, which includes the Pediatric Heart Lung Center (PHLC), has particular interests in the basic and translational science of lung development, especially as related to mechanisms that disrupt normal growth and cause impaired airway, alveolar and vascular structure and function in genetic and acquired lung disorders. Ongoing studies integrate whole animal and cell physiology with imaging and molecular methods to address mechanisms of antenatal and postnatal injury in experimental models of lung disease, especially as related to bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pulmonary hypertension and other respiratory disorders. The PHLC further developed clinical programs in pulmonary hypertension and ventilator care that further promotes the interface between basic and clinical science.
We provide state-of-the-art facilities within our Sections and on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus as well as a vibrant, highly supportive, collaborative, and interactive community. Please see the Section of Developmental Biology website (https://medschool.cuanschutz.edu/pediatrics/sections/developmental-biology) and the Pediatric Heart Lung Center website (https://medschool.cuanschutz.edu/pediatrics/research/programs/pediatric-heart-lung-center) for more information about our research, faculty, trainees, core facilities and programs.
