Postdoc position in Mammalian Regeneration

The craniofacial skeleton is a crucial component of vertebrate development. Congenital craniofacial syndromes or traumatic injuries to the head skeleton can have a profound impact on our health and quality of life. Treatments of such syndromes or trauma require heavy maxillo-facial surgeries and reconstruction. Ideally, repair of severely damaged or missing bones should occur through the induction of an endogenous regenerative response.

Our goal is to discover the spatiotemporal origin and identity of cells contributing to craniofacial bone regeneration. To this end, we combine intravital imaging with single-cell multi-omics to unveil new strategies to stimulate cell plasticity and endogenous tissue repair.

 Position:

The position is supported by ERC funding, available for up to 3 years. Start date is flexible from June 2023.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in life sciences, developmental biology, or cell biology
  • Good knowledge of mouse experimentation, bone development and regeneration
  • Experience in mouse surgery or intravital imaging
  • Curious, motivated, and inventive researchers are encouraged to apply

Environment:

Located in central Paris, the Cochin Institute (https://institutcochin.fr/en) is one of the biggest French multidisciplinary biomedical research centers. It presents all the complementary technical support and state-of-the-art genomics, bioinformatics, cytometry, histology, and imaging core facilities. It gathers all the forces, conceptual expertise, and excellence essential for the completion of the project.
