An NC3Rs funded Research Associate position is available in Dr. Kyra Campbell’s research group (https://cellplasticity.weebly.com) to work with exciting new Drosophila melanogaster models for metastatic cancer (Campbell et al, Nat Comms 2019). The successful candidate will screen anti-metastatic compounds for their ability to block metastatic progression in Drosophila. (https://www.nc3rs.org.uk/establishing-drosophila-melanogaster-part-pre-clinical-pipeline-anti-metastatic-cancer-drug).

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Campbell group, who are focused on identifying the molecular mechanisms underlying epithelial cell plasticity during development and disease. We study how this during morphogenesis of the Drosophila midgut (Campbell et al, Dev Cell 2011; Campbell and Casanova, Nat Comms 2015; Pitsidianaki et al, JCB 2021), and also in our exciting Drosophila cancer models (Campbell et al, Nat Comms 2019; Adams et al, IJMS 2021). We combine single-cell OMICs approaches and deep-tissue fixed and live imaging on our own lab’s dedicated multiphoton confocal microscope, with genetic approaches and CRISPR/Cas9 technologies.
