Postdoc position studying signalling in stem cells at the University of Manchester

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in Hilary Ashe’s lab to study how signalling filopodia collect and transduce the BMP signal to control cell fate decisions, using Drosophila ovarian germline stem cells as a model.  This project will build on our recent progress in this area (Wilcockson and Ashe, Dev Cell 2019) by using cutting-edge live imaging and exploiting the tractability of Drosophila to explore the behaviour and functionality of these signalling filopodia.  The successful applicant will join Hilary Ashe’s lab, University of Manchester, to work on this BBSRC funded project, which represents a collaboration with Shukry Habib, Kings College London.  For further details of research within the Ashe lab, see: http://ashelab.com/.  You should hold or be working towards a PhD in a biological science, be highly motivated and have an interest in developmental signalling.  The position is available for 3 years.  Informal enquiries should be directed to Hilary Ashe, hilary.ashe@manchester.ac.uk
