Postdoctoral position for the study of nervous system biomechanics in Drosophila in Madrid

Posted by , on 30 October 2024

Location: Madrid

Closing Date: 31 December 2024

We are seeking for enthusiastic candidates with a strong record of competitive publications to apply for the upcoming Juan de la Cierva Postdoctoral Researcher Program funded by the Spanish Government. Candidates must have completed their PhD after January 2023.

We are moving the lab on the spring or summer 2025 to new settings at the Instituto Cajal in Madrid, where we will continue our projects on the signalling mechanisms and cellular and mechanical events orchestrating the morphogenesis of the nervous system of Drosophila. This program offers a unique opportunity to join our research team and contribute to cutting-edge studies (Nat Commun. 2023 Dec 11;14(1):8186; Nat Commun. 2023 Feb 7;14(1):675; Dev Cell. 2022 Apr 11;57(7):867-882.e5)

The selected researcher will specifically tackle one of the two following projects

1) The study of the morphogenesis of the Ventral Nerve Cord (VNC) from the embryo to the pupae analyzing its complex 3D remodeling during metamorphosis.

2) The analysis of the mechanical and functional coordination of VNC morphogenesis to the development of the adult musculature and sensory systems in structural/mechanical terms and via their functional interactions.

We encourage recent graduates with diverse backgrounds and expertise (Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, Modeling) to apply.
