Postdoctoral Position in developmental toxicology

A post-doctoral position in the field of fish developmental biology, ecotoxicology and environmental health is available in the lab of Dr. Frauke Seemann at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC). The research will be directed towards the investigation of drinking water health risks in underserved communities due to increasing extreme weather events.

The team is looking for an experienced researcher who is willing to implement their expertise in diverse projects from transgenerational toxicity to developmental biology in a welcoming and respectful environment, supporting the PI with student mentoring and proposal writing as well as leading own research projects.

This is a one-year position with potential for extension with an expected staring date of August 15th, 2024. The salary will reflect prior postdoctoral experience and what is customary for the relevant field. Candidates are eligible for benefits defined by the university and administered by Human Resources as well as an optional retirement program.

ABOUT THE LAB: The research projects conducted in the lab are related to fish toxicology, notably developmental toxicology, immunotoxicology and transgenerational toxicology. Using the medaka fish models, Oryzias latipes and Oryzias melastigma, we investigate pollutant-induced impacts on the molecular, cellular, tissue and organismic level and over generations. This approach allows us to identify potential molecular key markers, which may be employed to obtain information about the individual fitness upon exposure and subsequently population health. We are located at TAMU-CC in the Department of Life Sciences. Access to genomic, flow cytometry, isotope and microscope core facilities allow the employment of state-of-the-art methodologies to achieve the research goals.

Only candidates with a Ph.D. degree in (eco)toxicology, fish biology or a related field awarded within the previous five (5) years are eligible for this position. Experience in animal exposure experiments, cell sorting, single cell sequencing, epigenetics, molecular biology, and omics skills are considered advantageous. The candidate will be involved in research, teaching, and service assignments for their career development.
