Posted by , on 30 October 2021

Location: La Jolla, CA

Closing Date: 1 February 2022

The Congenital Anomaly Research Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to explore mechanotransduction in the chick embryo during key stages of cardiac development.The position is focused on using genetics and bioinformatics to uncover the molecular basis for differences in cardiac form and function following mechanical perturbation. The Postdoc will use cutting-edge techniques in developmental biology, bioengineering, and bioinformatics to uncover the physical and genomic drivers of cardiac morphogenesis.

Candidates must hold a doctorate degree and have relevant experience in molecular biology, genome biology, developmental biology, biomedical engineering, or a related field. The candidate must be open to combining experimental and computational work. The ideal candidate would be scientifically driven, curious, well-organized, and a self-starter. The ideal candidate would further have a record of presenting research results through publications as well as good interpersonal and communication skills.

A plus:

  • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 technology.
  • Some experience in RNA expression analysis using RNAseq and its data analysis.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, R, C++), in a UNIX/Linux and/or Windows environment.
