Postdoctoral Position on small RNA biology

Job type: Postdoc
Location: Bethesda
Closing Date: 30 November 2021
Postdoctoral Position — Vidigal Lab, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, USA
The Vidigal laboratory has a fully funded post-doctoral position available immediately.
Non-coding RNAs have emerged as essential regulators of animal physiology, and our lab aims to understand the molecular mechanisms through which they impact animal physiology and contribute to disease. To do so, we rely heavily on the generation of genetically modified mouse models and their characterization using state of the art biochemical, imaging, and high-throughput approaches including CLIP and CRISPR screens (visit our lab’s webpage to learn more!).
Current projects in the lab focus on small non-coding RNA pathways that converge on Argonautes, a conserved family of proteins that play essential roles in mammals, most notably through the post-transcriptional gene regulation via the miRNA pathway. We are seeking candidates interested in exploring how the functions of these proteins are regulated in vivo, and how they shape gene expression programs to impact cell fate decisions and ultimately animal health.
Requirements: The ideal candidates will have:
- PhD in biology or related field
- strong research interest in RNA
- strong expertise in Molecular and Cell biology
- expertise in Immunology and/or Cell cycle regulation are a plus but not essential
We offer: Candidates would be joining a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, have access to state-of-the-art facilities, and the opportunity to develop their own ideas in a highly stimulating scientific environment. We offer fully funded positions with competitive salaries (0-1 year experience ~$60k) and benefits. The NIH campus provides an opportunity for living in a vibrant, diverse city (Washington DC) or in a suburban community with some of the best public schools in the country (Bethesda).
