Postdoctoral position to study congenital heart defects

Posted by , on 10 February 2026

Location: Indianapolis

Closing Date: 30 June 2026

The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking applicants at the Postdoctoral Fellow level. The Ware lab investigates the genetic and developmental basis of pediatric heart disease. We analyze genetic variation in samples from patients with congenital heart defects and utilize mouse, Xenopus and cell-based models to assess these variants. Our lab also uses these models to study genes previously linked to congenital cardiac defects, with a particular focus on left-right patterning genes.

Qualifications

The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree with a strong research background in genetics and/or developmental biology. Candidates should have experience with mouse or Xenopus models and molecular biology techniques. Experience collecting/processing mouse embryos, particularly at early stages of development, is highly desirable. Experience with cell culture, immunofluorescence or in situ hybridization would be considered a plus.
