Postdoctoral research fellow position available in post-natal development and aging of the enteric nervous system

The Kulkarni Lab at Harvard Medical School is seeking fresh or experienced PhD graduates to join our research group, which aims to unravel the molecular, cellular, and developmental mechanisms relating to the post-natal maturation, maintenance, and aging of the enteric nervous system, and to explore the significant cross-talks it establishes with various gut-intrinsic cells (immune, stromal, etc), as well as with various extrinsic nerves of the gut-brain axis that innervate them.

 

The Enteric Nervous System is the second largest nervous system in vertebrates and regulates key gut and systemic functions. However, clarity on important post-natal developmental processes, homeostatic processes, and aging processes has been missing. Our lab aims to understand the cellular and molecular processes involved in these processes in mice and in human tissue samples to understand how health differentiates from disease. Ours is an open-science lab and is a collaborative environment that comprises of undergraduates, research technicians, and visiting scientists. We seek a collaborative person with background in general eukaryotic life sciences for this position.

Relevant experience in enteric or peripheral neuroscience is preferred but not necessary. Those without significant basic wet-lab biology experience need not apply.
