We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate cell-type specific gene regulatory logic of neuron development in the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis.  The Marlow lab investigates the evolution of gene regulatory mechanisms in animals with a specific focus on invertebrate nervous systems using cutting-edge single cell, functional genetic and epigenomic technologies.  https://voices.uchicago.edu/marlowlab/  A strong interest in genetics, developmental biology and/or chromatin biology is highly encouraged and experience in one or more of these domains is a plus.  Training in these areas and single-cell methods will be provided.

The postdoc will have the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary group of researchers and is encouraged to collaborate with other team members.  Mentoring and training in study design, manuscript preparation and oral scientific communication will be provided and the candidate will have the opportunity to attend national and/or international conferences to share their work.  The University of Chicago is a cutting-edge research environment that includes modern Genomics, Proteomics, and Light Microscopy core facilities, and a field research station, the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.   Postdocs will have the opportunity to participate in the myCHOICE career mentoring program and will have regular training and outreach opportunities.

Candidates should have successfully defended a PhD in a relevant field of biology (e.g. development or genetics), computational biology or bioinformatics prior to the start of the position.

Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae and a statement of research interests to Dr. Heather Marlow at hmarlow@uchicago.edu
