Postdoctoral position
Posted by Sophie Morgani, on 17 August 2023
Job type: Postdoc
Location: NYU Langone, New York
Closing Date: 15 August 2024
The laboratory of Philipp Leucht, MD, PhD. is seeking postdocs interested in stem cell biology, aging, regeneration, and translational medicine to join our team. Our lab forms part of the Regenerative Medicine Program at NYU Langone with the goal of functional limb and organ regeneration. Specifically, we study the skeletal stem cell as a tool to enhance fracture repair and improve bone health in aging and disease.
We use in vitro culture systems, in vivo transgenic and injury models, and state-of-the-art technologies, including single-cell sequencing and genetic barcoding, to uncover the factors that regulate skeletal stem cell fate decisions in homeostasis and repair, decipher the mechanisms that lead to a decline in skeletal stem cell function with age, and develop strategies to rescue stem cell function and improve fracture repair in older individuals. In addition, our lab investigates how interactions between tissues and organs regulate regeneration and identify potential drug targets that will translate into clinical trials within our clinical research program.
NYU Langone is a premier institution for biomedical research with excellent core facilities and a supportive environment for interactions between its labs and clinical disciplines. The medical center has allocated considerable resources in developing a modern, interdisciplinary research unit, and in addition, our lab offers you the following:
- a commitment to your scientific development, based on your interests and future goals
- exposure to basic and translational research including close interaction with medical students, physicians, and physician-scientists as well as research scientists
- a highly collaborative environment that provides the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects
- supportive and scientifically enthusiastic colleagues
Fellowship Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated and talented scientist who loves science as much as we do to contribute to discovery and translational research. Specific responsibilities include the following:
- conducting cell-based and molecular biology research including tissue culture, phenotypes, proliferation and differentiation assays, flow cytometry analyses, RNA/DNA analyses including ChIP-seq and RNA-seq, transduction/transfections/infection, RNA/DNA extractions, PCR, immune-histochemistry, immuno-precipitation and immunoblotting, and general lab organization/ordering as well as lab safety issues
- performing preclinical studies in mouse models of bone fracture repair
- maintaining accurate records, writing reports, and preparing and giving presentations
Fellowship Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following:
- a strong background in stem cell biology, molecular biology, and cell biology
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- ability to perform both self-directed and guided research
- effectively work as part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists
The salary range is $70,000+.
How to Apply
If you are interested, please send a CV and the names and phone numbers of three people who could provide letters of reference by email to Dr. Leucht at philipp.leucht@nyulangone.org. Lab members will be affiliated with NYU Langone’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Learn more about our lab.
