The Tsakiridis group (School of Biosciences, University of Sheffield, UK; https://www.tsakiridislab.com/) are seeking an independent and motivated postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a 3 year MRC-funded project at the interface of developmental/stem cell biology and disease modelling. The successful applicant will primarily employ human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) differentiation and genetic engineering to elucidate the nature of human enteric nervous system (ENS) progenitor dynamics and their crosstalk with Schwann cell precursors during ENS development and Hirschsprung disease. This project is a close collaboration with the group of Conor McCann at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health in London.
Applicants must hold a PhD (or be close to completion/have equivalent experience) in a subject related to stem cell/developmental biology. Experience in hPSC culture and neural/neural crest differentiation, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry and qPCR is required. Good knowledge of CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing approaches in hPSCs would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills, and be able to work to a high standard.
