Flatworm Bioadhesion: genomics and single-cell RNAseq
Posted by Peter Ladurner, on 8 January 2024
Job type: Postdoc
Location: University of Innsbruck, Institute of Zoology
Closing Date: 11 February 2024
From early 2024, a postdoctoral positionon flatworm bioadhesion with a focus on genomics and single-cell RNAseq is available in the Dr. Peter Ladurner lab at the University of Innsbruck, Institute of Zoology, for three years.
The aim is to identify markers for a cell type involved in flatworm temporary adhesion and to obtain a gene expression profile of this cell type. We plan to use Oxford Nanopore based genome sequencing (available in the Ladurner lab), single-cell RNAseq (in collaboration with the Solana lab, Oxford Brookes University), and in situ hybridization screening. Specific experiments will then be designed to further characterize the releasing process.
Your profile:
- a strong grounding in single-cell RNAseq and genome sequencing and annotation (experience in relevant software packages) is essential
- very good computational skills are required (including Linux)
- excellent English skills are necessary
- ability to work independently and on your own responsibility
- ready to perform Oxford Nanopore sequencing (training can be provided)
- experience with molecular biology techniques is desirable
- German is an advantage but not essential
- candidates should have a PhD in bioinformatics or cell- or developmental biology or a related topic with publications in the relevant field
We offer:
- a front-end research topic in the field of bioadhesion
- postdoc salary in accordance with the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)
- appointment for three years
- living in Innsbruck – a winter and summer sports city in the heart of the Alps
The University of Innsbruck is an equal opportunities employer. Women and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
To apply, please submit a single PDF with a statement of research interests and what you would bring to the position, CV and contact details for at least two references. All applications will be considered until February, 11th 2024. Informal enquiries to discuss the position are welcome (peter.ladurner[at]uibk.ac.at).
