PhD position in 3D gene regulation at the Andalusian Center for Developmental Biology (CABD), Seville

Posted by , on 8 April 2024

Location: Seville, Spain

Closing Date: 30 April 2024

The 3D Genomics (Lupiañez) lab at the Andalusian Center for Developmental Biology (CABD) is inviting applications for PhD positions, as part of the project “The impact of 3D regulatory landscapes on the evolution of developmental programs (3D-REVOLUTION)”, funded by the European Research Council (ERC). We welcome applications from candidates with experimental and/or computational background.

Our laboratory aims to understand gene regulation in the context of a 3D genome. We employ methods to map 3D chromatin structures (Hi-C, Micro-C) and gene regulation (single cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq) as well as cutting-edge mouse transgenic technologies for validation. The candidate will investigate the evolution of sex determination, by applying genomic and functional comparative approaches in different vertebrate species.

Position requirements:

Successful candidates will possess a background in molecular biology and/or computational biology. We expect the candidate to be highly motivated, creative, and enthusiastic to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

The environment:

The candidate will be enrolled in the Biotechnology doctoral program from the University Pablo de Olavide. This is a very multidisciplinary program that covers basic and applied research and that helps developing training competences. The candidate will also benefit international and collaborative atmosphere of our research group and of the CABD. This is an intellectually vibrant and highly communicative scientific environment that combines research in molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. The CABD is also an excellence unit recognized with the distinction “María de Maeztu”.
