Closing Date: 31 December 2021
The Leucht Laboratory, part of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Department of Cell Biology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, is looking for an exceptional postdoctoral fellow in the area of skeletal stem cell aging, who specializes in stem cell research, aging, or regenerative medicine.
The postdoc will perform research on the mechanisms that regulate skeletal stem cell fate decisions and how they affect the aging skeleton during homeostasis and repair, using a combination of genetic barcoding, single-cell sequencing, and proteomics approaches. We expect to identify potential drug targets to be translated into clinical trials within our clinical research program. Our lab is seeking a motivated and talented scientist who will contribute to discovery and translational research. Specific responsibilities include the following:
- cell-based and molecular biology research
- tissue culture, phenotypes, proliferation, and differentiation assays
- flow cytometry analyses and RNA/DNA analyses, including ChIP-sequencing and RNA-sequencing, transduction/transfections/infection, RNA/DNA extractions, PCR, immune–histochemistry, immunoprecipitations, and immunoblotting
- general lab organization and ordering, as well as lab safety issues
- preclinical studies of bone fracture repair in mouse models
- maintaining accurate records, writing reports, and preparing and giving presentations
The postdoc must have a PhD in biological sciences and a strong background in stem cell biology, molecular biology and cell biology. Other requirements include excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to perform both self-directed and guided research and effectively work as part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists. The postdoc will be affiliated with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
Interested individuals should send a curriculum vitae, and the names and phone numbers of three people who can provide letters of reference to Philipp Leucht, MD, PhD at philipp.leucht@nyulangone.org. The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
