Postdoctoral position – Mammalian regeneration and progenitor cells in the Gottardi Lab @University of Pennsylvania & Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
Posted by Riccardo Gottardi, on 27 January 2023
Job type: Postdoc
Location: Children's Hospital of Philadelphia & University of Pennsylvania
Closing Date: 1 July 2023
The Bioengineering & Biomaterials Laboratory of Dr. Riccardo Gottardi at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow.
The lab has developed a novel decellularized cartilage construct that has shown preliminary success in the tracheal repair of large animals and in the regeneration of the tympanic membrane in a small animal model. The successful candidate will take the work in new and exciting directions including (1) exploring mechanisms of cell migration into decellularized constructs, (2) evaluating the chondrogenic potential of novel progenitor cells, and (3) utilizing decellularized cartilage construct for tracheal repair in a large animal disease model of subglottic stenosis. These objectives can also be extended to applications in tympanic membrane, craniofacial, and joint repair. A background in mammalian cell biology, chemical or materials engineering, and experience in the use of animal models are preferred.
