Postdoc position available in the Fernandes lab at University College London

for Autumn 2023 on

the cell biology of neuron-generated morphogen gradients

Well-studied morphogen gradients (e.g. Shh in the vertebrate neural tube or Hh in theDrosophila wing imaginal disc) occur in epithelia where the gradient emanates away from the ligand producing cells. We have found that growing neurons (photoreceptors) estab- lish an atypical Hh gradient.

The goal of this project is to uncover the molecular and cell biological mechanisms that explain how photoreceptors generate such an atypical Hh gradient.
