Research Associate/ Postdoc in single cell genomics and epigenomics (Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), Germany)
Posted by Eike Lau, on 23 January 2023
Job type: Postdoc
Location: Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), Germany
Closing Date: 2 March 2023
At the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) part of the Technische Universitaet Dresden, an institute of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB), the Chair of Neural Development and Regeneration (Prof. Catherina Becker), offers a project position as
Research Associate/ Postdoc (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV–L)
Start date is negotiable, but can be as soon as possible. The position is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and will initially be limited for 3 years. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG).
Tasks: Zebrafish, in contrast to humans, can replace neurons after spinal injury from endogenous stem cells (Becker and Becker, Development 2022). We have begun to unravel a signalling pathway by which immune cells instruct spinal stem cells to generate new neurons after injury (Cavone et al., Dev Cell 2021). Using single cell genomics and epigenomics, the postdoc will develop a mechanistic understanding of this unique phenomenon and directly test important factors in vivo using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. This project will elucidate the principles of stem cell re–programming for neurogenesis and thus identify new targets for therapeutic approaches in non–regenerating species.
Requirements: university and PhD degree in biology or related fields, high motivation, and expertise
in at least one of the following areas in any model species:
− genomics and bioinformatics;
− generation of genetic animal models;
− in–vivo imaging and time–lapse microscopy;
− neuroanatomy and histology
Informal enquiries should be directed to catherina.becker@tu-dresden.de
