The Living Systems Institute at the University of Exeter is home to mathematicians, physicists, bioengineers, biologists and biomedical scientists. Driven by scientific curiosity and powered by interdisciplinary approaches, we seek to discover new knowledge and improve health. Our central focus is on understanding and gaining control of cells, the building blocks of life. Under the Directorship of Austin Smith, we have launched an integrated programme of research into multicellularity, including stem cell self-organisation and tissue dynamics. We seek exceptional interdisciplinary mathematicians, biophysicists and biologists to join our endeavour to elucidate the mathematical and biophysical principles of multicellularity and reveal mechanisms of tissue development, disease and regeneration. We are currently recruiting to four posts, including two open rank posts, from Senior Lecturer to Professor, in Stem Cell Biology.
