2025 RIKEN BDR-CuSTOM Joint Organoid Symposium

We are pleased to announce that the 2025 RIKEN BDR-CuSTOM Joint Organoid Symposium “Integrated organoid science: Stem cells, Engineering, Medicine” will be held on March 5 to 7, 2025, at the Kobe Campus of the RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research (BDR) in Japan.
Organoids are three-dimensional multicellular systems with micro-tissue structures found in organs, and generated through self-organization of stem cells. Stem cell self-organization is based on the emergent ability of stem cells to induce organ-specific structures by regulating appropriate numbers of assorted differentiated cells and controlling their orderly spatial arrangement patterns, in addition to maintaining multipotency. The discovery of self-organization processes in stem-cell culture systems has allowed researchers to generate organoids in the lab and propelled stem cell research to a new dimension, with applications to understand human developmental biology, in cancer studies, to engineer Organ-on-Chip devices as well as in drug discovery for rare diseases. This symposium will bring together scientists from across fields of stem cell biology, engineering, chemistry and information science to share the latest cutting-edge research in organoid biology and its social implementation, and also discuss the future tasks and challenges in this research area.
For this upcoming symposium, we have invited scientists working in fields of stem cell biology, engineering, chemistry and information science to share the latest frontline research in organoid biology and the advances toward its social implementation, and also discuss the future tasks and directions of this research area.
Topics will include:
1. The principles of self-organization
2. Modeling development and regeneration
3. Modeling human diseases
4. Engineering approaches
We welcome scientists and students from around the world who are working in a broad range of fields and are interested in organoid science to gather at the symposium where there will be many opportunities for lively and exciting discussions. We encourage the submission of abstracts for the poster session from many scientists to increase opportunities for lively and informative exchange of views. A small number of poster abstracts will be selected for oral presentations.
We would also like to make know to you that the RIKEN BDR Symposium 2025 “Towards Redesigning Life Cycles” will be held right before this symposia on March 3 to 5 at the same venue. If you are interested, please schedule to join both events.
We look forward to seeing you in March 2025 in Kobe, Japan.
