Postdoc Position in Evolutionary Developmental Biology

Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Cornell University

Applications Due: 01 Nov 2025

The Babonis Lab (babonislab.com) at Cornell University seeks to hire a motivated postdoctoral research associate who will use a broad range of cellular, molecular, and functional genomic techniques in a wide array of marine invertebrate species to interrogate the evolution and development of novel traits. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and optimize protocols for various ‘omic techniques (single cell transcriptomics, proteomics, etc) and other techniques for assaying protein function in non-model organisms at different life stages. This position will also require the development and maintenance of transgenic animals that will be used to examine the evolution of cell identity within and across species.

To qualify, applicants must have a Ph.D. and expertise in molecular biology, transgenesis, genome editing, and protein biochemistry. The ideal candidate will also have significant experience with: genome-wide DNA and RNA sequencing and analysis techniques, marine animal husbandry, and embryological manipulations.
