Postdoctoral position in the Peifer lab

Posted by , on 1 October 2026

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

Closing Date: 31 December 2026

Are you looking for a postdoc exploring the cell biology of development, defining how cells change shape and move? Do you want to develop a research program & teaching skills preparing you for a position at a college or small University? Our new NIH grant will support those goals. Postdocs trained in our lab moved on to positions at places like Davidson, Bucknell, Franklin & Marshall, or Randolph Macon.  At Carolina they gained teaching experience in our summer sessions, published first-author papers, & built a research program that was scaled for the college environment. We combine genetic, cell biological & biochemical approaches to learn how cell-cell adhesion & the cytoskeleton are integrated, exploring this at multiple levels from whole animals to the structures of molecular machines. Here you can learn to mentor undergraduates & postbacs and build a team. UNC has a rich scientific community, with a special focus on the cytoskeleton. It is part of the Research Triangle, with Duke, NC State and others making it a real scientific powerhouse. Chapel Hill is also a terrific place to live, with access to the outdoors from mountains to the coast. email me a CV and cover letter to peifer@unc.edu.  You can learn more at: https://tarheels.live/peiferlab/

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
