Postdoctoral position in breast stem cell biology and cancer biology
Posted by Karoline Briegel, on 13 November 2023
Location: Miami, Florida, United States
Closing Date: 31 May 2024
A postdoctoral position is available in the Briegel Lab in the Department of Surgery – Molecular Oncology Program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine – Miami, Florida. We study WNT transcriptional/epigenetic mechanisms in normal and malignant breast epithelial stem cell development. Our lab is affiliated with the NCI-designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) with access to state-of-the art facilities. The SCCC has a vibrant Tumor Biology and Epigenetics Research Program that offer trainee research awards and career development opportunities for Postdocs to foster their transition to an independent career. https://umiamihealth.org/en/sylvester-comprehensive-cancer-center/research/research-areas/research-programs
Applicants with prior experience in any of the following areas are highly encouraged to apply –genomic high-throughput analysis (ChIP-seq, CUT & RUN, HiC-seq), single cell transcriptomics, protein-protein interaction, gene knockout and transgenic expression, stem cells, cancer biology, organoid cultures, mouse model, and/or tumor immunology.
Projects:
– Reprogramming of stem cell/differentiation states and lineage identity during malignant breast development.
– Crosstalk between cancer stem cells and the immune system.
The long-term goal of the Briegel lab is to identify molecular determinants that can be developed into cancer stem cell-targeted interventions to prevent and reduce the mortality from metastatic breast cancer.
Profile required:
– Recent Ph.D. in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, stem cell biology, cancer biology and/or immunology
– Demonstrated expertise in genome sequencing approaches, protein-protein interaction studies, gene regulation, epigenetics and/or tumor immunology
– Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
– Excellent oral and written communication skills
