Postdoctoral Position in Development and Dosage Compensation

Posted by , on 14 November 2024

Job type:

Location: Toulouse

Closing Date: 15 December 2024

Our recently established group, “Developmental Regulation of Gene Dosage” (website), is focused on studying the regulation of X-linked genes in the mouse to gain a functional and evolutionary understanding of dosage compensation in mammals. In this context, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to explore developmental and molecular consequences of aberrant X-linked expression during mouse development using in vivo and ex vivo systems.

Profile of the candidate

The candidate should hold a PhD in Life Sciences and have a strong interest in molecular genetics, genomics and developmental biology, as well as patience and rigour in experimental work. Experience in mammalian development and/or embryonic models is an advantage; nevertheless, training will be provided as necessary. The candidate is expected to work as a part of a team, be self-driven and organised, with strong written and spoken communication skills in English. The candidate will participate in defining the research strategy, conduct experiments, supervise students, analyse results and contribute to research dissemination.

Terms of employment

We offer an ERC-funded contract (one year, renewable up to three years) starting between Feb and June 2025. The exact salary will depend on experience but ranges from €2990 to €4166 EUR (gross; expect 25-31% taxing). The selected candidate is still expected to apply for postdoctoral fellowships. Please consult our website to find out more about our lab’s culture. We aim to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating a diverse, multicultural and inclusive environment, and we encourage applications from candidates from backgrounds historically under-represented in science. If you have any specific needs or concerns, do not hesitate to get in touch (rather than not applying).

The environment

Operating language in the team is English. We are located in Toulouse (France), at the Centre for Integrative Biology (CBI) (website) in a brand-new building on the main campus of the Université Toulouse III-Paul Sabatier. The CBI offers a very dynamic and collaborative scientific environment (+40 research groups) and in-house state-of-the-art core facilities and platforms. Toulouse is a warm and vibrant city situated in the heart of southwest France, home to one of the oldest European universities, rich in culture and history, and offering excellent life quality.

How to apply

Please contact rafael.galupa@univ-tlse3.fr with (1) a motivation letter describing your research interests and how they relate to our team, and (2) your CV, including the contact information of at least two references. Applications will be considered until December 15, 2024. Selected candidates will initially be invited for a video call, and eventually for an interview in Toulouse, during which they will have the opportunity to visit the institute and meet members of the group and of the institute.

Salary: From €2990 to €4166 EUR (gross; expect 25-31% taxing), depending on experience
