The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW) at Faculty of Health & Medical Science at the University of Copenhagen is looking for a Bioinformatician to join Brickman group starting February 2023 or upon agreement.

Our research
The Brickman group is interested in the transcriptional basis for cell fate choice, exploring both fundamental mechanisms of transcriptional regulation by signaling and how gene regulatory networks define cell potency and fate in development and differentiation.  We focus principally on pluripotent stem cells and their differentiation to various types of endoderm as a model system and some of our recent work has pointed to how enhancer priming prepares cells for later differentiation, an issue we will exploit as part of reNEW as we seek to generate  better functional cell types from the liver and pancreas. We also have a projects focused on understanding the role of the extra-embryonic endoderm in human development, with a focus on improving IVF treatment.

Job description
As a Bioinformatician in the Brickman team, you will be working in a field of stem cell biology. You will be part of an international interdisciplinary team of scientists focusing on computational analyses between fundamental and translational research. We work with in vivo and in vitro systems both in mouse and human. As a bioinformatician you will be responsible for pre-processing, analyzing and interpretating Next-Generation Sequencing epigenetics (ATAC-seq, CHIP-seq, Cut&Tag, Cut&Run) and transcriptomics (RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, spatial) experiments. Your work will contribute to current and future works of PhD and post-doctoral fellows.

Responsibilities

• To analyze and interpret above mentioned NGS experiments.
• To develop new computational approaches for analyzing and inferring hypothesis by combining epigenetic and transcriptomic experiments.
• Provide guidance and support to other lab members.

Qualifications

• A minimum master’s degree in bioinformatics, data science, applied math or statistics, computer science, systems biology, or the like.
• Proficient programming skills in languages like Python or R.
• Experience with UNIX/LINUX operating systems.
• Previous experience with pre-processing NGS datasets.
• Knowledge of cell, stem cell or developmental biology is an advantage.
• English communication skills, both oral and written are a must.

Terms of salary, work, and employment
The employment is scheduled to start February 2023 or upon agreement.
The place of work is at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW), University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3B, Copenhagen.

The employment will be as Research Consultant (Forskningskonsulent/Specialkonsulent) or Academic officer depending on experience and qualifications.
Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). In addition to the basic salary, a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary).
