At the Plankton Senses team we are looking for a motivated individual to support our research on plankton neuroethology and ecology. The successful candidate will engage in diverse tasks ranging from bioinformatics, image segmentation, and experimental pipeline development, while also contributing to animal facility maintenance and lab organization.
Our group is one of eight teams within the Villefranche-sur-Mer Developmental Biology Laboratory (LBDV) at the Institut de la Mer de Villefranche-sur-Mer (IMEV) in the French Riviera.. The IMEV is supported by the CNRS and the Sorbonne university and hosts state-of-the-art microscopy and aquaculture facilities, as well as a rich scientific environment including seminars, international meetings, and institutional retreats.

Responsabilities

Support the team with diverse experiments and acquisition of preliminary data.

Help maintain the Platynereis culture.

Organize and manage the laboratory space.
Activities
Research
-
Genotyping wild Platynereis isolates.
-
Molecular Biology work (PCR, Molecular Cloning).
-
Microinjection and miscellaneous lab work (pharmacological treatments, biophysical measurements).

Acquisition and segmentation of image datasets.
-
Generation and phenotyping of CRISPR lines.
-
Bioinformatic data analysis (genome and transcriptome resources).
-
Support in mounting behavioural setups.
Other

Lab management tasks.

Procurement of specialized equipment.

Participate in daily care tasks of the Platynereis worm culture.
Required skills
-
MSc or PhD in a relevant field (or in the final stages of completion).

Experience in laboratory and bioinformatic projects, preferably in biophysics, cell and developmental biology, or neuroscience.

Solid knowledge and experience in light microscopy.

Medium-level skills in molecular and genetics approaches (cloning, transformation, etc).

Basic-level skills in coding and image analysis.

Experience in lab managing positions is advantegous.

Previous work on laboratory marine systems or in genetic models is preferable.

Fluent in written and oral English.

Salary: €2522,00 to €3,072.00 gross per month, depending on experience.
