Faculty Scientist and Division Chief

McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for Division Chief at the Associate Professor or Professor faculty tenure track position in the Department of Pediatrics Research Center. The position is highly competitive with regard to salary, start-up funds, and laboratory space.

The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administration activities, and other services.

The McGovern School of Medicine is one of six schools in The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and is located in the world’s largest medical center, the Texas Medical Center. within the University include state-of-the-art facilities including microscopy, genomics, proteomics, histopathology cores, and vivariums.

Position Key Accountabilities:
Overseeing administrative, academic, and research activities of the Division. Responsible for the growth and advancement of research and teaching excellence academic and research planning, development, and resource management. Leading the division to the next level in research and training.

Qualifications:
Ph.D., MD or MD/Ph.D., or equivalent degrees.
Record of research accomplishments and have extramural grants and current research funding.

Evidence of leadership skills and an active research program focusing on intrinsic defects of bone and/or cartilage using mouse and/or zebrafish models. These research interests complement those already established in the division/department including craniofacial malformations, craniosynostosis, kidney, and cardiovascular malformations, and disorders resulting from abnormal cartilage and bone growth and will allow for collaborations.
