Post-Doc Position in Cell Biology/Developmental Neurosciences
Posted by Olivier Raineteau, on 15 May 2022
Location: Stem Cell and Brain Research Institute (SBRI) - INSERM U1208 Lyon, France
Closing Date: 30 June 2022
Project: The project is built on the unique expertise of our team in transcriptional control of neural stem cell (NSC) differentiation (Olivier Raineteau) and glia-to-neuron reprogramming (Christophe Heinrich) to unravel the principles (i.e. intrinsic vs extrinsic mechanisms) that guide reprogramming, with the final objective to promote it in various contexts. This team project, supported by the FRM, aims at 1) deciphering the transcriptional programs underlying in vivo glia-to neuron reprogramming, and 2) examining the competence of reprogrammed glial cells to generate a large variety of distinct neuronal subtypes. For more background, see Heinrich et al., Nature Cell Biol 2015; Azim et al., Plos Biol 2017, Donega et al., Cell Reports 2018, Lentini et al., Cell Stem Cell 2021.
Environment: You will join a multidisciplinary team of scientists. The institute benefit from state-of-the-art research platforms including Omics and Imaging, and provide a high-quality scientific, technological and medical environment.
Contract Duration: 2 years (extendable)
Candidates: We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated scientist holding a PhD and willing to join a challenging research area. Applicants are expected to have a strong background and proven track record in cell biology or developmental neurosciences. Experience in working with cellular/molecular biology, scRNA-Seq, microsurgeries in adult mice and embryos will be valuable. Expertise in sequencing data analysis would be helpful. English proficiency is mandatory (French is a plus). Strong communication skills, team spirit and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team are expected.
